Method Schools 2020-21 Staff Satisfaction Report

Monitoring staff’s overall satisfaction is a primary focus point for Method Schools’ leadership team to ensure a staff driven culture is being developed. This is achieved through ongoing coaching sessions, observations, evaluations and survey action planning. The leadership team makes it a priority to respond to ongoing feedback from all staff and to create new and better ways to create a staff driven culture. The below graphs demonstrate the staff retention rate, employee satisfaction rate and eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) for the 2020-2021 school year:

At Method, we aim to make ours an organization where people love to work, and we continue to include staff feedback and input in order to make it a genuinely staff-driven, positive and inclusive culture.

Culture in a Remote Workplace

The lack of a physical office space doesn’t negate the need for a strong workplace culture. In fact, fostering a consistent, staff-driven culture is even more critical in a remote workspace in order to maintain cohesion and a sense of purpose for all employees, thus adding to overall employee satisfaction.

Setting the foundation for a genuine culture that resonates with staff doesn’t happen overnight, it takes a conscious effort, starting at the top with the leadership team. Reflecting on key values and aspirations behind the organization and its employees can reveal the driving forces of an organizational culture. At Method, our culture thrives on integrity, diversity, flexibility, and a high degree of autonomy.

Flexibility at Work (and home)

Through our frequent staff feedback surveys we keep a pulse on staff satisfaction by soliciting honest insight into the employee experience at Method. Time and time again, we find that employees state “flexibility” as a key factor in their satisfaction.

At Method, flexibility isn’t just about working from home. It’s about our employees finding what works best for them to be highly fulfilled and productive contributors. For some, this flexibility may mean the ability to start work a little earlier to leave early one day. Or attending an important doctor appointment in the middle of the day and making up the time later. Others appreciate the flexibility in the work itself by having the freedom to conceptualize creative solutions to problems, or utilizing a process or system that works best for them.

With the sudden onset of COVID-19 restrictions last year, employers scrambled to pivot to more flexible working arrangements. Many, like Method, are now experiencing an increase in employee satisfaction on account of the many benefits of offering a flexible workspace:

  • Improved work/life balance
  • Decreased stress, improved mental health
  • Increased efficiency & productivity
  • Reduced burnout
  • Increased employee retention rate
  • Greater employee satisfaction overall
